You can change the world. By investing Godly principles in the lives of our children in their transformational years, we can make a significant impact. Even more, when fathers purposefully create a course of action to bless their sons, amazing Godly transformation occurs in the life of the youth. God has given us a physical marker to help guide when it is time to begin that course of action. When a child hits puberty, starts having long term goals and begins leaving childish pursuits, he is ready for his Year of Blessing to begin.
Heart of Nation is a non-profit entity designed to help parents and guardians develop a tailored Year of Blessing course of action for their child. We provide the steps, content and outline the responsibilities of all who are involved.
Many kids spend their lives searching for meaning and validation because they never received it from those around them. We have an opportunity to bring great validation and life into the lives of the children in our spheres of influence. But we must be intentional about it. Sports, the arts and academic pursui ts are great. But it is only by chance that they may learn some of the greatest lessons in life there.
We must be intentional about a boy's passage into young manhood, and it must be tailored to the boy and his needs. I believe whatever the details, it needs to involve test and trial of physical, emotional and spiritual nature. That needs to be done by the father-if he is available-or another significant man, and that it occurs best in a fellowship of men. It needs to be NOT "encouragement" but validation from men who know him and have journeyed with him. (John Eldredge the Way of the Wild Heart, Pg. 134)
My grandfather and grandmother, Yetta and Nathan, were Jews who lived in Germany in 1935 just before the outbreak of World War Two. A gentile friend of my grandfather’s who was coerced into the German police warned them that they should leave the country because of the atrocities to come. I am very thankful for the warning this unnamed man gave my grandfather because it saved my family. In a similar way, you have no idea how much your investment in the lives of our youth may save one day.
It is time to create a counter culture to capture the hearts of our young men because they are the heart of a nation.
